She’d thought it was a kindness, but really it was just an outright lie. When it started it had seemed like such a small thing but as time went by the truth gnawed at her with razor teeth. She was going to have to say something but she didn’t have a clue where to start.

He believed he knew everything about her. He would be devastated and she knew it.

“I can’t lie to you anymore,” she said, head in her hands.

He looked perplexed.

“All these years you’ve thought I support County,” she said, “but I’m a Forest fan.”
